The Land Rover LR4 took several elements of the LR3, the 2009 model, and completely redesigned them in order to help the vehicle stand up better against the competition. Improvements include a bigger engine with a faster acceleration and better handling on road.

On-Road Driving

While most people buy a Land Rover with the intention of going off-road from time to time, they will spend most of their time on-road with the vehicle. As such, the 2010 LR4 has improved braking, steering and suspension systems in order to give the vehicle a better feel on the road. It takes corners better than its predecessor and absorbs bumps better as well. The variable ratio steering rack gives it a responsive but not hypersensitive steering feel. To that effect body roll together with ride quality are improved. The LR4 can even ford water, because the alternator, air conditioning, power steering pump and starter motor have all been waterproofed. bmw 3 series for sale

The vehicle has more power, increased 25 percent over its predecessor. This means it can accelerate much faster than the LR3. Direct injection gives a better compression ratio, and the better power does not sacrifice fuel economy. For a vehicle in its class, the LR4 does well on fuel economy, especially with a lower idle speed and smarter alternator that does not charge the battery during acceleration. By locking the torque converted much earlier in the acceleration process the LR4 is made to run smoothly with help from the 6 spd auto gearbox.

Off-Road Capabilities

As a Land Rover, the vehicle is designed to be taken off road, and handles a variety of terrains well. Equipped with a system that allows a driver to select the terrain on wich the car is travelling. Terrain Response System allows the LR4 to adjust itself accordingly. Automatically locking center and rear differentials and a traction control system that works beautifully combine to give the driver a pleasing off-road experience. Improvements include a rock crawl mode and a sand launch control setting for the Terrain Response System.carfind.co.za

Technological Upgrades

Technology is the name of the game with the LR4. It includes a 5.0-inch TFT display sitting between the speedometer and tachometer, which shows information about the vehicle. All it takes is just a software upgrade and viola you have a navigation system. A surround camera system is available, and drivers can use the tow assist mode to predict how a towing setup will maneuver when the vehicle is in reverse.

Cosmetic Changes

The LR4 looks surprisingly similar to the LR3. Some fo the changes will not be spotted immediately. LED headlamps, front grille and bumber are just a few of the design ques that shout "new". The new bumper makes the vehicle more aerodynamic and accommodates the larger cooling duct. Buyers will be happy to know that three new colors are introduced. These are Nara Bronze, Bali Blue or Impanema Sand.
