By buying a car in a private sale you are basically agreeing to buy it just as it is. You will pay a price for the car and then after that the car is totally your responsibility. Even though there are many risks associated with buying privately sold used cars, the majority of them are actually genuine.
So if you decide that it is worth taking the risk you could always ask for the services of a qualified mechanic to come and inspect the car for you. At least then you can have some reassurance that you are buying a good used car. If you have already run a vehicle check and are happy with that and have been given the go ahead from a mechanic, then you might just find that you get quite a bargain.
