Bad Claims Hiking Car Insurance Premiums

By , October 17, 2009

We live in a society where everyone is worried about the number one – themselves! This means that for most people, when they get into a car and drive, they are focused on their own driving and are usually not concerned with the other road users. This is normally the wrong thing, as most good driving schools will tell you. A good driver is focused on their own driving, but also watches carefully and anticipates the actions of other drivers. If you are aware of other drivers and watch the road cautiously you may be able to prevent an accident from occurring. It can be easy to spot a slapdash driver.

This could save you from having an accident! The problem is, you can drive cautiously, and keep a cautious watch on other road users, but you cannot prevent OTHER people from having an accident. If you are not concerned with the accident, you may wonder why this would be your problem? The fact to consider is that ultimately, other people having motor collisions and claiming off insurance could give you higher insurance quotes in future.

Car insurance companies base their premiums on a variety of factors. There are the factors which cannot be swayed, which are age, gender, driving history and type of vehicle. Then there are the ones that you can work on to assist you in getting a lower premium. These are normally security measures such as installing a tracker on your vehicle, keeping your vehicle in a locked garage overnight and putting in a good alarm system. The thing that most people do not realize is that bad drivers could be ruining it for the rest of us. The age factor is most certainly prejudiced by bad claim history. As young drivers are more reckless, and are more inclined to be involved in a vehicle accident, motor insurance companies have hiked the premiums for youth.

The more people claim on small accidents such as driving over curbs and parking accidents, the higher the premium will be for drivers with that on their history. The fact of the matter is that the more accidents that are claimed for, the more paranoid the insurance companies become and thus the higher the premiums grow. It could do us all good as individuals to be attentive and cautious when driving, and to always encourage the same of friends and family members. To repeat an earlier point, you are not the only driver on the road, and it is in your best interests to ensure that you are keeping a watchful eye on the other road users around you.

Take Amtrak to The San Diego Area To Enjoy Your Next Great Vacation

By , October 17, 2009

Maybe this is the time for you to look into an Amtrak vacation, especially if you have never done that sort of thing before.  Many North American destination cities are easily accessible by train.  Getting there can be half the fun on some of the more scenic routes.

San Diego is one of the best-known and most appreciated vacation targets in the country  The train runs right into the middle of town, with easy local public transportation to get you to your hotel and most of the attractions.  Compared to other parts of Southern California, San Diego is actually relatively close together.  You can even get around to a lot of vacation attractions by walking if you enjoy that.

There is no shortage of fun places of interest in San Diego.  You could really spend weeks at all the museums, historical places of interest, beaches, theme parks and other attractions.  There certainly would be no problem filling a busy week of vacation in this beach-oriented city.  The weather in the summer is particularly appealing, with a moderate sea breeze cooling things off.

Perhaps you would like to make an even more ambitious train travel event, in which case you can take the train up the coast.  AmTrak runs from the downtown San Diego station to downtown Los Angeles Union Station with a few stops in between.  This would make it possible to spend an easy week or two in Southern California without your car.

Don’t forget that a trip by train can add several days on to the total schedule compared to flying, but if you have the right mindset the traveling can be part of the overall enjoyment of the trip.
