Espresso machines – Enjoy your Favorite Espresso at Home
No one seems to have time for anything lately. Busy, busy, busy – everyone is too busy. But, thanks to some ingenious Italians, we can now carry our own espresso on the way to work. The first batch of Italian espresso coffee machines started to be made in 1901 and this started the planet’s love affair with this wonderful – nay –perfect cup of coffee. If you spend all day in a Starbucks, you might want to consider investing in a home espresso coffee maker. This way you can have home made, high quality espresso on tap any time of the day or night. And this espresso machine is always open.
Dozens of local coffee emporiums on every high street turn out hundreds of gallons of poor quality coffee every day. But a lot of people are becoming unhappy with that and prefer to make their own espresso at home, using their own espresso machine.
Manufacturers of espresso machines have followed the demand and seen that there is strong demand for a home machine. This has created a wide range of choices – from less than $50 to several thousand dollars and all prices in between. There is also a huge range of different models to choose from. Pretty much a model to suit almost anyone’s needs – including the perfectionists.
If you are interested in buying an espresso machine, the massive variation in styles and models can be confusing. They vary from enormous, stainless steel behemoths to tiny, unobtrusive countertop models. They also vary in capacity and volume quite considerably. Do you want a completely automatic machine or with some variation and control?
The original models were steam driven and these are still available. Although there are also two other types available using either lever or a pump to increase pressure.
The basic principle in all model types remains the same, in that a head of steam is built up and forced through coffee grounds. The method of pressurizing the liquid varies depending on the type of machine. The basic models use steam pressure; the piston model uses a piston to build the pressure and the pump models use an electric pump to make an espresso.
Dozens of companies now make espresso machines ranging in size and application from basic one cup models to large commercial machines. Some of them are – the Conti of Monte Carlo and Briel of Portugal. They all make a wide selection of machines – cater to restaurants, hotels, other commercial ventures and private homes. But let’s face it – every one loves an Italian espresso machine.
Espresso coffee makers spreading across the earth are working 24/7 to churn out this frothy, thick concentrate. Its burnished tones and bittersweet taste adds a rich taste to our daily lives. If one can find a moment of tranquility in today’s humdrum earth, it is probably in the company of an espresso.
